As announced by General Manager Robert Stone last week, the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will kick off the edition of WWE NXT9/22/26 , which airs from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
WWE has revealed the full list of teams in the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The tournament is drawing talent from WWE‘s Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and Evolve brands, along with stars from Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). On the other hand, after their heated segment last week, AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina and Thea Hail will take on the team of NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan and NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria in a tag team match. Meanwhile, a collosal six-man tag team match will see the team of Zilla Fatu, Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux battle the Birth Right (Lexis King, Channing Lorenzo & Uriah Connors) this Tuesday.
Continuing with the tag team action, Robert Stone made a massive announcement last week. The announcement was that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will return in honor of the historic Dusty Rhodes. The tag teams that will be involved have not been announced yet. However, we do know that 14 teams will compete from NXT, AAA, Evolve, Raw, and SmackDown. The tournament will kick off next week with two matches. We don’t know the matches, but Robert Stone announced that the Creed Brothers, Vanity Project, and Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno will be competing in the tournament. There are strong tag teams already announced; who knows who else might show up, since any brand can make an appearance.
The tournament began back in 2015 in honor of the late, great, son of a plumber, Dusty Rhodes. He not only left a mark on the company during his run there, but also on NXT, as he was one of them from the beginning. He was a coach and backstage voice in NXT; his presence was greatly felt and awful to lose. The tournament was created in his honor in 2015 and continued every year until 2024. There have been winners such as Finn Bálor, Samoa Joe, The Undisputed Era, The Creed Brothers, Io Shirai, Kay Lee Ray, and more of your favorite wrestlers.
